Introduction
If you are planning to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, the former Nazi concentration camp, we suggest you to start with Kazimierz – the former Jewish district – to understand the Jews, their religion, customs and culture and their role in Europe. Kazimierz district became world famous thanks to the movie Schindler's List, made here by Steven Spielberg. Spielberg decided not to use any Hollywood decorations – in his film he presented the authentic settings in which the history was taking place, paying great attention to the historical facts and the details. We would like to tell you the story of the Jews of Krakow, the story of Oskar Schindler and the story of the film - all of them almost unbelievable, yet all of them true... During the tour we will follow the Schindler's Route retracing the history of Krakow's Jews and seeing the places where the film was made.

Programme
We walk around Kazimierz to get the spirit of the former Jewish town and to discover the places shown in the Schindler's List movie. We will follow Jozefa Street, to see the courtyard filmed in the ‘Schindler’s List’ movie, which will take us to the New Square, where students and artists of Krakow spend their free time. After seeing the Temple Synagogue, which served the modern Jews, Ciemna Street – a typical Jewish district street - will guide us to Szeroka Street - the heart of the former Jewish city, where we will see the Remuh Synagogue and the Old Cemetery, Mykwah, and Helena Rubinstein’s birth place. Later we will go to the Galicia Museum to see the photographic exhibition showing the life and tragedy of the Jewish People in Poland. Then we will walk to Podgorze district, where during World War II The Jewish ghetto was. From here we go to see the Schindler's Factory.

Our recommendation
We recommend combining this tour with tour Auschwitz tour. In the evening we suggest having a Jewish style dinner with a concert of the Jewish Klezmer music – to get the spirit of the old fashioned Kazimierz.

Additional information
If you don't like walking to much – we will arrange the transport for you. Having transportation during the tour we can also visit the area of the former concentration camp in Plaszow, the district of Krakow.
