Introduction
We would like to show you some places connected with
Karol Wojtyla, before he became John Paul II; places that he loved so much, that he was revisiting them many times after he had been elected the head of the Catholic Church. As we were present at nearly all of Pope’s pilgrimages to Poland and Cracow, you can be sure that you will be told the most important and significant information. We would also like to tell you about the Pope Benedict XVI, who succeeded John Paul II on the Vatican throne; about his pilgrimage to Poland and its meaning.
Programme
Our tour starts in St. Florian’s church where Karol Wojtyla was a vicar. From here we will go to the Main Market Square, with the St. Mary’s Basilica, and then we will visit the Bishop’s Palace with the famous window through which John Paul II blessed young people during each visit to Krakow, and the Franciscan Church, where he used to pray. After a short break, we will follow Kanonicza Street, which will lead us to the Wawel Hill where we will see St. Leonard Crypt, where Karol Wojtyła celebrated his first mass as a young priest, and to the Cathedral with the Bishop’s throne. In the Museums we will see exhibits connected with the Pope.
