Then we climb the church tower to see the biggest old bell in Poland. The most famous legend of the old Krakow is the one that tells of a dragon that became an unofficial symbol of the city. During this tour we visit the dragon’s cave and look for other dragons on the Wawel Hill. Then we try to make a map of the traces of these beasts on the Wawel Hill! At the end of the tour we learn about the bravest knights and visit the armoury to see their panoplies and weapons.

Day 3
breakfast
afternoon: In Search for the White Gold – a trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine
During this tour we descend to the depths of one of the biggest and oldest Salt Mines in Europe to discover all the underground treasures. Following the tunnels and admiring large chambers and amazing chapels it is so easy to forget that everything here is made of salt! If we are lucky we may meet Skarbnik – the good ghost of the mine. Afterwards we make a break in the underground snack bar where you also have some time for shopping.
Note: there are 800 steps down all together in the Salt Mine (divided in smaller sections). If your children may have some difficulties with descending so many steps, please inform us in advance – we will arrange a lift (for an extra fee) to carry them down to the first level of the Salt Mine. The underground tour will be adapted to the age of children. The temperature below the ground is 14-16 C.

The central idea in the project for the opening of the Hotel Turowka was to create an exceptional place, to which you would always want to return. The building, which dates back to the year 1811, when it served as a saltern, was erected in the grounds of a medieval outlying farm called „Tur”, from where the name of „Turowka” was derived which survived until today. |
