The Erazm Ciołek Palace houses two complementary collections that jointly create an image of old Polish art in the time of the Polish-Lithuanian Republic. The exhibition Art of Old Poland (12th-18th c.) presents excellent works of the medieval and more modern art from the collections of the National Museum in Krakow, one of the oldest and best sets of old Polish art. To the most valuable part of the exhibition belong Gothic paintings and sculptures. The exhibition Orthodox Art of the old Polsih-Lithuanian Republic features a hitherto little known group of icons, one of the oldest and most precious collections of Orthodox painting in Central Europe.
Collegium Maius is the oldest University building in Poland. Its history dates back to the year 1400, when King Władysław Jagiello, according to Queen Jadwiga's will, purchased a corner house for the Krakow Academy... The exhibition contains the most valuable collections connected with the history of the univeristy and science in Poland as well as a permanent display of Medieval art and Western European paintings.
